Fares are not simpler. I want the CDR back!!!

I hate First. So, I hate FGW. FTPE aren't as bad, but are owned by First.
I hate Arriva & Stagecoach. Leaves me with 2 options.....

Typical.

'Lets hate FGW because everyone else does.'

:roll::roll::roll:

Typical, bitch about me when Dan_atki told you not to.:roll::roll:

EDIT: Why, for the love of Christ, do you think I like EMT? The only thing I like about them is that there finally updating Derby's Railway Station.

But you have never travelled with FGW. They have really improved recently. 3 car 158s back on the Cardiff - Portsmouths, and better punctuality, including better reliablility on the 142 fleet than either ATW or Northern.

TPE are part owned by First. Keolis own half. Maybe that's why you like them so?

Alright then... I've never travelled with them, but I still don't like them.

You still have no worthwhile reason to hold that view, so can I suggest you shut your trap?????

I've never travelled on (insert TOC) so you won't see me slagging them off with no good reason. Its no wonder you are getting flamed :-x

Thinking about it, FGW have improved a lot since this time last year. They've had more services added, and are that bit more reliable. Really, if you haven't travelled with a TOC before and you think they're crap, you really can't say anything like that TBH

Hmm. Well around here, people know it is £6.40 to Manchester before 0900, and £4.80 after. Something like that anyway. And I have had numerous people telling me the new system is better than the old.

As I said, with longer more complicated journeys (a la your Solihull example) it is no simpler. But with the journeys the majority of passengers make, it is.

I'm glad it's helped in your area! Around here, similarly short journeys have become more complicated. Many passengers were sold an "Anytime" return after 0900 (when off-peak returns become available in Strathclyde). And as has been said, it's been an overall farce. The names are much better, but that's about it, as they mean nothing in quite a few cases.

It is good to see someone benefiting somewhere, though :)

You were asked to stop and you didn't - any more of this argument in this thread or elsewhere in the forum will result in warnings and/or infractions. I, for one, am not going to sit around deleting argumentative posts by the same people all day long without taking further action. This ends here.

On another note, can I remind everyone NOT to post messages on the poll threads themselves - all are on moderation for all members and any posts awaiting moderation in those threads will be deleted. Thanks.

Agreed the names are much better but are of absolute no relevance to what the validity of the ticket a passenger holds, has. If ATOC had of taken the advice of the Transport Select Committee and introduced TRUE simplification with rules that are the same across the board (of course there would need to be various easements as there are now) that would be a very welcome transformation. Unfortunately we are left with ourselves in a worse position than we were previously, with fares more confusing and terms/conditions as clear as mud for the average passenger.

Even though Network Rail are doing it and EMT are not?

And why do you hate fGW yet never travelled on any of their trains?

Dont know if this is off topic or not, shouldnt assume so,

But its a bit annoying to see that the three nominated railtours are all diesel.. thats a bit silly, considering one I did, 'the Locomotive Exchange Special' with the Duchess of Sutherland, 60019 and that 47245 thing on a small leg was much better than the Dorset Dumpling.. which I was also on.

Remember guys, its not just diesel out there.

Obviously the majority think diesel is better...

Unfortunately kettle-admirers are somewhat outnumbered where this forum is concerned :p

Well said.

The poll is a bit flawed in the sense that you have to vote on things that have not affected you. For example, 'meet of the year' - how can I vote on the best meet-up when I have'nt been on one? This will affect the outcome of the results, a skip option would be more appropiate.

Not that I'm moaning, I did enjoy participating in the survey.

As others have said. Just don't vote if you don't know what to put. There's no need for a 'skip' option as no categories are compulsory.

how can say that GC was a disappointment?
just cause they had a rough start doesn't mean that you can judge them by this!
look at their trains.
tonnes better than NXEC anyday
good legroom
friendly staff
comfy seats
you should all just think for a moment
use your brains!<(:-x<(:-x<(:-x<(:-x

Well I think quite a few people would say the performance of their trains was 'disappointing' until recently. Whose fault it was is a different matter.

Possibly I've missed the point, but it's a poll. With polls, it's up to you which category wins. If you do not feel that GC are the biggest disappointment of the year, then don't vote for them.

Also, I find it a wee' bit strange that you are 'GNERMan', yet youre slagging off the interior of NXEC trains, yet it was your precious GNER who implemented the refurbishment - and actually completed the Mallarding of the mk4s!! ;)
