My dad has just been invited to a RailChat meet by email. Despite the fact that he is not a member, nor does he have any idea what RailChat is!

Anyone know anything about this?

I also received one. I didn't think I was a member either, but think I must have signed up and forgotten about it. Maybe your dad did the same?

I think I signed up years ago, never posted once though!

Is that still going strong after all these years? I know a couple of other Rail forums have more or less died recently.

It's unlikely. But maybe.

Dunno, sounds like it'd a good day though (provided it didn't turn out to be a stoatfest).

Yeah. Most active members are adults working on the railway so it doesn't suffer many of the same problems that have resulted in the closure of other rail forums over the years.

Wow, I've got one, and I've only made a few posts on there.:? Well, being a 17 year old in a booze-up certainly ain't my idea of a good time...

Ah cool. I won't be, but my dad might.

How have they gotten the email addresses of people that aren't registered with RailChat then?

He must have registered, or you must have registered with his address a long time ago. They won't have invited anyone who hadn't registered. Otherwise they would have emailed everyone. In the world.

Nothing to do with me.

I guess he must have done. He doesn't recall it though. It doesn't seem like that sort of thing he would do. But yeah.

You register with a different email address to the one you're now using? You've had a few in the past few years if I remember correctly.

Well worth going for some proper beer. And I mean proper. None of this Carlsberg, Carling, Fosters or whatever (yes I know they're lagers but I couldn't think of anything but Guiness and Murphy's).

Got an invitation, can't remember my password or owt and rarely have enough time for MSN, here, the WNXX forum (where I spent about 90 minutes this afternoon, will do the same tonight), Rail-UK and Goodness knows what else to find time to pop onto RailChat unfortunately.

I'd love to go, but I doubt I'll be able to do so.
