Railcard Renewals

I’ve just received my tastefully worded invitation to renew my Senior Railcard for another 3 years. They’ve reminded me 3 before expiry (that was nice) and tell me 75% users opt for the Digital version, which I normally avoid for all the usual caveats. Are they offering any incentives to switch (or even discount codes) that will make the £80 more palatable?

It makes the implement of a ‘discount code’ box somewhat pointless otherwise!

Having already established who I was 12 years ago (with ID), I now find I need to prove I’m still of the right age to renew, since they already know this, having to provide it all again seems pretty pointless - unless some folk get younger as time passes?

Sadly, 'Mork' (or Robin Williams, the actor who portrayed him) died over a decade ago. Although, having said that, he would, I think, have qualified for a Senior Railcard in the years beforehand.

I saw him in Aberdeen station years ago coming off a London train. I found out later that he was going to the Lonach Highland Gathering as one of Billy Connoly’s guests at Candacraig House (as the genuine Laird of Candacraig). Maybe Williams bought one for his return journey, he would have his passport with him!

If you have enough Tesco Clubcard points, they can be used as full or part payment, with the points having £2 in value for every £1 in points (but only for the one year railcard).

Thanks @TUC - I usually go for the 3 year (plastic), however their website is a bit flakey. Yesterday I revisited and I clicked on the link in their email to renew, it took me to my A/c page and after logging in, would let me select 1 or 3 years before requesting I supply a licence, passport or residency card. I bailed out as it should be enough for them to take me at my word (especially for a third renewal!).

Today, I tried again but this time it took me to a payment page with no request for age verification - so I paid up, rankling at the price increase (but I do get good use out of it).
