Yeah she didn’t give me anything but I see where you’re coming from there.
Yes, that is the down side - they usually don't and if you asked I suspect some staff might be wary of giving anything like that anyway
The train was 4:11-5:05 Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly on the 1st November.
That was a Trans Pennine Express operated train to Liverpool via Manchester. So it would have been staff on that service that were prepared to accept your e-mail confirmation

There was a Northern operated train that left Sheffield at 16.14 but gets into Manchester at a later time than 17.05 so you must have been on the Trans Pennine one.

So it’s not unusual if I don’t get a letter until the end of the month for example? Just so I know a rough time of when this letter may arrive!
Yes, it could be some weeks or even months but 4 to 6 weeks might be reasonable timescale

It was made out at the time to me I’d get a letter within days but it seems that is definitely not the case!
That may happen but depends how busy they are and I think frontline staff often say that but won't know fully accurately when the timescale would be - they just want to take down your details and hope you go on your way as soon as they get the info off you they want....
