Hi all, getting a bit confused here as I feel like I've been sold a ticket that is physically impossible to be used.

I'm travelling from Stafford -> Coventry in First class, and used the split tickets offered by the Virgin Trains Ticketing app, which has split the tickets as follows:
Stafford -> Birmingham Advance Single, £11.25
Birmingham -> Coventry Anytime Single, £5.10

The whole journey takes place before 10am, so my understanding is that the minimum fare of £12 applies... However this is what the ticketing app sold me knowing the itinerary.

The Birmingham -> Coventry ticket has no Railcard listed on it, and the price checks out as the full price fair between those destinations.

However... The Stafford -> Coventry leg is listed as a Railcard fare with the "16-25 Railcard" on the ticket, but the price is below £12...

So my question is, have I missed something and do the Railcard restrictions not apply to advances? Or have I been sold a ticket that is physically impossible to be used?

Yes the minimum fare does not apply to advance tickets, see this extract from the terms:
The 16-25 Railcard has a minimum fare that applies from 04.30 and 10.00 Monday to Friday. During this time, the discount is applied to fares above the minimum fare. This minimum fare does not apply to:

4.5.1. Advance tickets; or

4.5.2. journeys on public holidays; or

4.5.3. journeys during July and August.

At the time of printing, the minimum fare is £12. The minimum fare is subject to change during the validity of your Railcard - check website for the most up to date information
