My brother turns 30 start of next month. He's just renewed his 26-30 railcard as he's still got a few trips to theme parks (involving getting the train) planned for this year.

Am I right in saying that he can't renew his railcard this time next year even though he'll be 30 when it expires?

Correct. The railcard can be purchased or renewed up until the day before the holders 31st birthday. It can then be used as normal until that railcard expires by the holder.

So it sounds like he might get to renew it another time too.

No, you’re not. The railcard can be purchased or renewed at any time prior to the 31st birthday.
