Due to an offer from First Group I will shortly have a conflict of interest
As a result I have to give up my involvement at RailBritain.com
This is due to the revenue stream from this website

This would be a great opportunity for someone with rail industry knowledge
There is no great need for website building experience, although it would be helpful

It is nearly three years since the website was last updated so almost every page needs to be rewritten, some pages will need to be withdrawn, and some new sections added to cover the changes over this period

If this is of interest, please PM me with a brief outline of experience and your proposal for how the website could be improved

There are no plans to move the website as I already host this website myself
The Domain Name is owned by Carl Edwards, as far as I am aware he has no plans to sell this
Both of these costs are covered by the revenue, the surplus is then split between the authors
That is where my conflict of interest will arise from

Whoever takes it over simply has to update the content
However, there are near on 400 pages now, although a lot of this could be removed or replaced
The only requirement is that the current Travel, National Rail, and Train Companies sections must be retained
We also receive a small number of enquiries from the public, usually about things that either National Rail can't answer or can't be answered directly by the main TOCs

There are also copyright agreements in place with most of the TOCs
The terms of these must be strictly adhered to

The website is about :
100 MB in size (excluding external content)
3000 MB in monthly bandwidth
Between 5500 and 7000 visitors per month (2008 )
Between 4500 and 6500 visitor per month (2007 )

I have until Sunday 31 August, so I would like to find a suitable candidate by the middle of this month so that I can provide some training in the use of Mambo
If the person taking over the website has relevant experience then they will also be free to create an entirely new website using any interface they like, the current Mambo one can then be replaced by that

I can still remember the arguments on uk.railway about image protection on web pages.
I believe it eventually ended with the acceptance that nothing can stop the print screen.
