the outbound is quite an odd move, times only to 45mph, could the 57s be in tow?

Outbound: 5Z57
Return: 5Z58

Looks like 5Z57 will indeed take the 57s to Oxley with a similar formation to Friday's 7Z43 move. I assume the NVA barriers and 45mph max speed have something to do with brake force requirements (not sure what state of repair the 57s are in).

It must be rather snug in Chaddesden Sidings just now, as I understand it 43423 & 43467, 43465 & 43480 and 43468 & 43484 are all there along with the four NVAs and ROMICs 57307 & 57309

Do you think Chaddesden will be Railadventure's base during the sandite season, while Kings Norton is taken over by MPVS and RHTTs? I seem to remember them using Burton and Kidderminster in the past to stable the 43s between duties. Seems to be a reasonable amount of siding space at Chaddesden (as per the linked 2022 drone shot), but I'm not sure about servicing or fuelling facilities.

Why are they going to Oxley?

A very good question, Rail Record has 5Z57 and 5Z58 as the same consist in both directions with an 1113 arrival at Oxley and 1315 departure, not sure what you can do in 2 hours especially if it means splitting the train to get to the 57s though

Return was only HSTs and barriers, rail record is wrong, 57s were left at oxley

57307 pictured on the RailAdventure facebook page with the caption "RA Class 57 traction refresher today", the loco remains fully '20 Years of Direct Rail Services' branded but nameplateless

That’ll be good if it’s paintwork, the current paint job looks a little tattered you could say…

An unnecessary luxury I would've thought ;)
