An interesting piece of news today, 43468 & 43484 are reported to have completed their actual ETCS fitment work at UKRL Loughborough prior to testing, the pair have only been at Loughborough for 3 months which is a considerable improvement on the 11 months that the work took on 43465 & 43480

43465 & 43480 are at Mid Norfolk Railway Sidings

43423 & 43467 have been at Kings Norton OTPD since 28th March

Just having a look at that, West Somerset are having their Diesel Gala from 4th to 7th June and they're advertising 37250 & 47714 'courtesy of Wensleydale Railway' and 26007 'courtesy of Victor Korzeniewicz' which I believe is based at Barrow Hill, the schedules on RTT fit in nicely

They have also said visits to the RA HST cabs will be possible over the weekend. The HSTs will be doing the various moves from Wensleydale & Barrow Hill to Bishops Lydeard and back.

Presumably the pair will be 43465 & 43480 now released after ETCS fitment, I assume there are in cab differences which will make an interesting visit

*Edit : I've just seen that they are quoting 465 & 480 on the WSR website as the pair, they will be available for cab visits along with D1010 'Western Campaigner' subject to availability

One of this pair was in appalling condition l think 423, l hope the other one which was planned for cab visits would have been used

The pair didn't stay due to other commitments anyway, I would've thought it a perfect pairing for display actually, 480 refurbished, repainted and with ETCS equipment fitted with 423 in non refurbished condition, what do they have in common though? they both work and they both earn money for the company, 423 & 467 will be refurbished when they're not needed in service

In what way is 480 “refurbished” compared with 423? Repainted, yes. ETCS fitted, yes. But refurbished?

Were they not refurbished as part of their introduction to service with RA? I would have thought at the very least that the cabs and aircon systems would have been brought up to standard, especially after having suffered with EMR
