Jacked, unable to get up Camden Incline despite such a light load and (after hours of refusing to despite stopping the job) required assistance from a DB shed to get moving.

Thanks for that @87015 I was wondering what the four hour delay was about, having been up the incline myself numerous times I'd be a bit concerned about not making it with what seems to be a light load, it would be interesting to know what weight those brake force wagons are actually carrying

Do 2 class 43's at each end of a train have more traction than acouple of more recent diesel locomotives?

For passenger workings, I reckon it's close, but for freight and other non-passenger workings it isn't close. They just don't have the 'oomph' that say a Class 66 has.

Fixed that for you ;)

Is there a reason the 43s can't go all the way to Dollands Moor and bring stuff up from there directly instead of doing the swap over at Wembley?

As it stands I believe it's simply down to the fact that Class 43s aren't permitted over the routes to/from Dollands Moor

Just quoting @87015 as a reminder of what happened to 6Z59 a couple of weeks back, it turns out that human error was responsible, one of the cut out switches was not set properly meaning only one power car was working, those of us who have had the delights of a one power car set will know that was the lost opportunity to sit back and write our memoirs while trying to get up any incline let alone Camden

43465 & 43484 with 43468 & 43480 working top and tail with the barrier vans on todays 0500 6Z79 Kirkdale CS to Kings Norton OTPD

I'm not sure about the contravision(?) on the bottom bit of the side window to keep the wraparound line on the windscreen neat - a more elegant look would be to have that band extend to the bottom of those side windows IMO

The buffers have been fitted to those powercars since the late 80s!
All power cars have small buffers under the nose don’t they?

I don't think any of the original HST power cars had buffers. They only had a small hatch that lifted up to connect the coupling pole when being dragged/coupled up.

Some of the HSTs received buffers and drawgear when they were used as stand-in DVTs for the Mk4 testing on the ECML. Most of these power cars went to Grand Central. I think these are the ones that RailAdventure have now. I don't think they've added any new drawgear since they've bought them.
