Rail Vouchers: Part Use?

I have some £50 rail vouchers and want to make a journey costing £25.
Would the station be able to issue a voucher for the remainder?

No, you lose the remaining value. You can buy more than one ticket with one voucher though.

If they are issued by Southern for Delay Repay compensation, you may alternatively exchange them for the same amount in cash.

Not always. Only for a short period until London Underground stop deploying human beings at tube station ticket offices.

I got a fiver and a bit of shrapnel back in change once and a few coins regularly. But GBP 25 might be pushing it a bit. There is certainly no harm in asking if you can get change either in cash or vouchers and saving the vouchers until next time if the answer is no.

These are also becoming an endangered species, with Southeastern ceasing to retail Oyster products in August and South West Trains joining them at the end of the year.

Which leaves London Overground at all staffed ticket offices, Southern at Balham, London Victoria and East Croydon. GA have an Oyster enabled ticket office at Stratford (at the main and Westfield concourses), FCC at Essex Road (and possibly Drayton Park?). There may be others which I haven't included, but those spring to mind excluding the SWT stations which will cease Oyster transactions.

The ticket offices on the West Croydon/Crystal Palace extension (with a couple of exceptions, such as Penge West) have maintained their all day opening times as a legacy from Southern. I've also seen Surrey Quays open mid-afternoon, despite the official opening time being the morning peak.

Just remembered FGW at Ealing Broadway is Oyster enabled too as shown on the recent Channel 5 documentary where a passenger is given a refund to her card.

you can send them back and ask them to break the vouchers up into smaller chunks, though I've not done that myself yet.
When I get vouchers, even £10 ones are too large as most of the journeys I do are less than that. Not giving change is all part of the scam of "compensation" - the rail companies lose less money that way.
