Rail Vouchers and Cheap Tickets

Morning all,

I was recently delayed on a couple of journeys so claimed and got some vouchers in return (terrible of me really, given I work in the industry ).

I understand they can't be used online (annoyingly), so I'll most likely buy my next lot of tickets from a booking office to use them. My question, then, is: Are the super cheap tickets that are available in advance online (eg: Virgin's £12 advanced singles from Manchester to Euston) available to booking office clerks to sell me? Or are they purely online?

I'm aware that the super-off peak tickets are online only, but I think what I’m getting at is are the same types and price of tickets available to me/the clerk in a booking office as those available online?

Also, can a YP railcard be used in conjunction with vouchers?

Yes - when the FGW website was throwing a wobbly a few months back I walked down to the station with the details of the train written down and got advances purchased with my YP railcard with no problems.

The actual tickets are available from ticket offices - the only thing you can't benefit from is if an online retailer is offering an additional discount as part of a sales promotion.

Depends on the ticket type. Some fares are online only, while others may attract online-only discounts. These fares may not be visible to the booking office clerk, or may come with instructions that they are not to be sold.

The £12.50 Advance fare (without Railcard) between Manchester and London is just a normal fare so can be sold at the booking office, provided that they have not sold out on your chosen service.

Super Off-Peak tickets are not online only, except East Coast's special half-return-fare Super Off-Peak Singles.

Don't forget the new super off-peak Stoke to EUston Virgin Only at £32 open return, £21.10 with railcard, can be combined with Man Picc-Stoke Virgin only! May well be cheaper than 2xadvances.

Isn't that Stoke to London fare only for a limited time, like the same deal from the Midlands? Pretty sure they were bringing them back, only to be withdrawn again later this year. Very good chance I mis-read the e-mail mind, but £32 is a very good deal and, it being only £9 more when I last checked than the LM fare, Birmingham to London and back on Virgin for £32 is an incredibly good price! I'll sure be looking at it for my next London bash, since sensible price tickets from Hereford to London are virtually non-existant using ATW/FGW these days...
