Rail Testing & Lubrication Operative

Hello, I have an interview coming up for the above position. I already work in pway but have applied for this. Can anybody tell me about the role please? I know testing they go out & look for cracks in the rail with an ultrasonics scanner & lubrication they fill up & maintain the grease tubs which are found normally on curves to prevent corner gauge cracking & sidewear on the rail. Can anybody add anything?

I think basically you hit the nail on the head.Ultrasonics you check for cracks flaws etc within the rail.As for lubrication yes it’s used for gauge corner cracking but same time used for rolling contact fatigue and prevents snowing yes snowing lol basically metal against metal you end up with metal flakes.Its also used to prevent side wear in rail heads to prolong the life of the rail and prevent gauge corner cracking. But basically you know it anyway by sounds of things lol

Thanks for the reoly mate, where woukd you typically find grease tubs? Are they just on curves or in other areas too?
