With Northern already being in the OLR club, and Transpennine Express touted as it's latest member, would there be any benefits in TPE being absorbed into Northern? A sort of North British Rail ;0

This would involve Northern extending quite far into Scotland, that would be quite something!

See this thread for current discussion:
Rumours going around that TPE and Northern could emerge together and become a "Super TOC". Would this be a good/bad idea?

There must be a size of TOC thats too large to manage. I think a Northern/TPE mega TOC would fall into that category. Tho splitting off the North East into a small TOC may be worth considering if a Northern/TPE TOC was being considered.

And perhaps the Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds local services too. If you split all of those off, a combined TPE and the remainder of Northern TOC could be more manageable.
