There’s about 100 factors. Horizontal curvature is one of them.
Are there any cases in this country where the vertical curvature is responsible for a limit? I seem to remember that it is responsible in a couple of cases on the original French LGV.

Yes, quite a few. For example between Tipton and Coseley.

Have you ever considered creating a lecture video where you detail all these factors and explain the fundamentals? If you did you could just provide the link in future to anyone who asks on this subject, and if you monetise the video you can retire early ;)

I unironically would listen to that for hours I think - the idea of looking over all the case studies would be fascinating...

I kind of did once, in a meeting to a group of local authorities and businesses, to try and explain why making trains run more quickly wasn‘t straightforward. It did not go down well!
