If you haven't heard back from a company after doing an interview 6 weeks ago .... should you take the hint that its bad news!!!!

I'm panicking about mine just under two weeks ago. Already had one (unofficial) call telling me one assessor had given me the best mark they could for one part of the assessment and an (official) phone call telling me I'd passed the OPC exam assessments and to expect a 'yes' or 'no' letter shortly (due a week ago now).

Is this a general trend by the rail companies. Whats the longest anyone has heard back from them and received good news. Do they have a certain period of the year when their staff start in general?

Yeah it is a general trend with most rail companies to do this. I applied early December (8th) for my role with Virgin trains and I only heard back from them four weeks later that I was being invited to an assessment day. I was told a week later that I'd passed and was sent an email for a medical. After all of this I finally started 28th February. Patience is a virtue when it comes to these things

I wonder if the same thing applies to Network Rail. I hope so. ... Really want to work in the rail industry!

Electrical role in London ..... That was over 6 weeks ago. Not sure what the outcome will be! Some say no news is good news !!!!!! I would Love to get the role though!

I cant tell you how much I want to work in the industry - Hell I would even work for free if need be!!!
I have applied for a couple of jobs at NR - but im so desperate to get into the industry - I just wish someone would open the door for me.
I don't your location but their are quite a few NWR delivery assistant (working in possession planning) posts going in various places perhaps worth a punt?
Yes, Applications sent - only there is some trouble with the NR website /my internet connection at the moment took me a couple of attempts after getting "there has been a error" message
Are you not able to login to check the status?

I had interview weeks ago and for the last 4 weeks or so its saying assessment scheduled when I log onto the NWR career page. What does this mean?
It probably means you've been scheduled for an assessment, so you're interviewed must've been a success.

Hope so. .. Thats what i had thought it meant. Only thing is I would have thought you'd do an assessment first and do an interview after. Anyway i do hope they get back to me. Hopefully someone may be able to clear that up for me.
Interview first. They wouldn't just allow some random guy to walk in, sit down and take a shot at the test! They've got to get to know the applicants first. Chances are that applications are high, so some candidates will have to go at the first hurdle, unfortunately.

Interesting point. I hope you are right. I wonder how long more I will have to wait.
It always takes a while. Lots of forms to go through and questions to be answered. Railway departments are notorious for their slow moving nature.

Cool. So not hearing after 6 weeks isn't too bad then. I just hope you're right. What paperwork do they do inbetween?
Sifting through all the forms and interview answers I'll bet.
If it says 'Assessment Scheduled' you should be going.

Just found out that Assessment Scheduled on the Network Rail site does not necessarily mean that you have passed the interview and made it to the next stage. Followed up my application and found out that I have been unsuccessful. Bitterly disappointed but hoping a similiar role may come up again in the future.
Always felt that I didn't give 100% during the interview. As a matter of fact I was well off my best.

Sorry to hear it mate. Though I don't see how they can possibly write 'Assessment Scheduled' on their website if you haven't made the cut. That would be like a car company putting up an offer saying 'the first people to call us can have a free Vauxhall,' and then telling them when they arrive, 'Oh sorry guys, we haven't got any Vauxhalls.' The whole affair sounds very daft and very misleading to me.
But I'll tell you now, no matter what job you go for, you will always walk out of an interview room with the gut feeling that you messed it up. Whether it be train driving or any other vacancy, nerves always kick in. What you've got to work out when you fail is where you went wrong and how you can do better next time.
I'm very sorry to hear you were not successful and wish you all the best for a future on the railway!
