As this doesn't appear to have been posted yet (after a brief scan), it is reported that a member of staff was hit by FGW's 1W02, 10.22 Paddington - Hereford, shortly after departure from Charlbury (43141 leading power car, 024 on the rear). Presumably the unfortunate person was P-way, no more details I can find but it does appear sadly to have been a fatality.

According to local press, being treated as non-suspicious.Sounds more like a suicide.

'Internal' whisper is that it was NR personnel, but anything is possible. Presumably non-suspicious could also include a clearly accidental collision, if Driver's statement and cctv provide proof?

Sadly (as if it wasn't sad anyway) the last I heard it was being treated as self inflicted. If true, that will be the 2nd self inflicted rail staff fatality this week with the other being near Bury-St-Edmunds on monday evening.

Didnt hear anything about that on Connect this week-usually incidents like that are flagged up right away

The person in question was off duty so was dealt with as any other fatality....it was only after everything was on the move he was identified as rail staff. Don't think details of the circumstances or the persons employer are in the public domain so ill keep quiet on that front.
