When a Rail Crane is in use, not a road railer, and a copy of the Lift Duty chart is fitted to the exterior of the crane as a reminder for the controller.
Is there a requirement for this chart to be fully visible?

The Duty Chart must be available for the Crane Controller / Crane Supervisor to confirm any lift plans and jib settings.

It is not necessary for this to be displayed on the outside of the crane, it can be held as a separate document within the cab, or indeed can be within the cab.

The most important thing is that the information is available.

Presumably someone is arguing differently ?

I realise about the lift plan and details being available for the CC.
However I am part of a team looking after a 45 ton steam crane.
Somebody has installed a fitting that partially obscures the fitted duty plate on the side of the crane. We are of the opinion that this fitting needs relocating and may contravene PUWER.

In which case I would suggest the plate is moved to a position where it is not obscured.
