As part of the 50th birthday celebrations Radio Caroline are doing their occasional series where listeners have voted for their favourite all time albums, forming a chart of the top 500. Last done in 2008 a whole new chart will be revealed over the Easter weekend.

http://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/#home.html

Starting at number 500 on Friday at 9am and running each day from 9am to 7pm ending up with the number one just before 7pm on Monday evening.

I listened to the last one in 2008 and have to say it was probably one of the best 4 days of music I have heard on the radio ever. Obviously the expected Pink Floyd 'Dark Side Of The Moon', and Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours' were right up there, but some much lesser know gems appeared such as It's A Beautiful Day 'White Bird' plus lot's of Genesis, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Shadows, Yes, The Hollies, Jethro Tull, not to mention The Beatles etc. Such a great diversity of bands and songs. I am really looking forward to this new chart tomorrow.

Wow! Thanks very much for pointing me towards Radio Caroline. I last listened to Caroline around 1974 on a crackly wireless with it's ever fading in and out reception. I'm very impressed with what I've heard today. Their playlist is exactly my era (I'm 53). I've been listening to it constantly since your post yesterday. I've even added a link to my favourites in my media player.

I actually stopped listening to music radio stations about 15 years ago, tending to just listen to talk style stations. I even stopped listening to CDs and any kind of music really. I certainly couldn't tell you what's number 1 in the charts today. I don't even recognise any of today's groups or singers etc.

I was a big fan of all the classic 1970s groups and a follower of Queen. When Freddie Mercury died in 1991 I lost all interest in attending live concerts. Listening to music also died for me at that time.

Since listening to Caroline all day yesterday it's actually a pleasure to listen to real music again. So a big thanks again for sharing and I'll be listening to the Top 500 Album chart all this weekend.

Bring it on Caroline!!!

**** EDIT ****

I might even finally get myself a DAB wireless to listen to Caroline when I'm not online.

... and here comes Freddie with Queen's first single from 1973, Keep Yourself Alive.

I'm loving this!

I am so glad you have found Radio Caroline again, like you I have been disappointed with most radio stations, but love the style of music they play, and this 500 chart is throwing up some fantastic album tracks.
I just been listening to Curved Air, and the Moody Blues, great stuff.

Sorry to disappoint you but Caroline is only these days a internet only station, so you will not get them on DAB. I listen though on an internet radio at home, they are brilliant. You can get them with DAB and MW, FM, etc as well and would strongly advice going for one of those.

If you want to hear the station when mobile they do have a mobile phone app, you can down load.

Jethro Tull's 'Broad Sword' just been on what a lovely track.:)

Thanks for the tip. You've saved me a fortune from buying a new wireless!

However, I'm really enjoying today's broadcast, and it will be on all night. I just wish I could contribute to their request for contributions.

It's certainly made my weekend.

Thanks again :)

Deep Purple's Machine Head and CSNY's Deja Vu simply have to be in that top 20. I adore the Eagles but putting Machine Head behind Long Road Out of Eden is an enormous disservice to Gillan and co.
