Sadly died today aged just 52,after a short battle with cancer, Former England Fast Bowler from the 1980's, could bat a bit too (think of his 56 while batting with Ian Botham at Headingley '81). Very sad news indeed
He made his debut for Kent in 1977/8 and stayed there until he joined Worcestershire in 1987. At 6'4", he looked the part of a fast bowler, but his run-up seemed somewhat unusual.
He will always be remembered for the scorebook entry in a test match where three similar sounding names occurred:-
RIP Graham Dilley. I love watching two memorable video clips of the '81 Ashes @ Headingley, these being his quick half century with Ian Botham & the wonderful catch off Bob Willis to dismiss Rod Marsh.
