Quick Question on Tickets in London

There been an question that i thought about for some time, can you use London Underground Tickets on a London Overground service?

Planning to go to London but want to go to Gospal Oak and then to Clapham Junction but getting the Victoria Line to Highbury and Islington to get to Gospal Oak

Are you using an Oyster card? If yes then it doesn't matter what modes you use to get from A to B as long as you don't take too long. The fares are zonal based and allow you to mix and match as you wish.

I'm afraid not ( as far as I am aware! ), although of course a Travelcard will be valid on both systems.

I don't know much about London Underground paper tickets, other than they are very expensive and should be avoided.

Use Oyster Pay as you go, or a Travelcard instead.

That can be done on LO, but would take ages. Are you 'line bashing'?

You mean back to Gospel Oak?

It's not clear what you want to do, but whatever it is, I recommend using Oyster PAYG unless you don't have or want an Oyster card, in which case get a Travelcard.

Yes. If you mean with paper tickets bought by cash, you can use a single ticket on any combination of one or more of London Underground, DLR and London Overground. From 2 January 2011, the price is £4 for travel in 1-3 zones and £5 for 4-6 zones. See this TfL press release.

If you mean using Oyster to obtain lower fares, the answer is still yes. For prices, see Table One of the same press release.

Thanks for the help, went there yesterday and managed to get my London Underground tickets on an London Midland Train! which was an zone 1 & 2 Travelcard, asked at Euston Tube Station and they said you can use it on London Underground/National Rail Services and Buses! in the area, thank god i was told that becuase went to Gospal Oak to film an Class 172 but there was no Trains on the North London Line, closed becuase of engeering work and after i filmed the Class 172, got an Bus from Gospal Oak to Archway Tube Station the C11 to Archway using the Travelcard!

The only reason to get to Clapham Junction from Gospal Oak was to get to London Waterloo to film the Class 43 HST departing London Waterloo but couldn't get there becuase of engineering work

Well it would, yes, because a 'travelcard' isn't just an underground ticket, is it, as pointed out higher up this thread.

If you still have the ticket you'll notice it has a 'National Rail' symbol printed on it as well as the TfL symbol, hinting strongly at its validity...

I'm not aware of what engineering works were going on in London yesterday but given you had a Z1/2 Travelcard you should have been able to get there somehow.
