Quick day ranger purchasing question

This might be a bit of a dumb question, but can any day ranger be purchased from any station on the network?

Specifically - planning a rail and beer day Newcastle>Haltwhistle>Newcastle tomorrow, some of us travelling up from Durham and others from Darlington. Can we buy the Hadrian's Wall Day Ranger from Durham/Darlo, when buying a return up to Newcastle, or do we need to purchase it separately out of Newcastle?

Now - the Ticket Office May Just tell you that they can't issue them. So does anybody know how to Issue it? (codes etc...)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I take it you are intending to do some doubling back on the day? Because if not, there's no need for a day ranger if you are only going as far as Haltwhistle.

If you are doubling-back, but not between Hexham and Haltwhistle - then it would be a little cheaper to get the Tyne-Tees day ranger from Darlington and a ticket from Hexham to Haltwhistle. (Not cheaper from Durham though)

Some multi-modal tickets (e.g. Strathclyde Day Tripper) won't be available outside of area because of the special tickets (not Common Stock) that are issued. Generally though Rovers/Rangers should be available to purchase anywhere, providing the clerk is competent.

We're getting the ranger for the flexibility of being able to double back if we need to. I'd forgotten about the T/T as I'd been looking at the Durham prices!

Well, I've certainly been able to buy the Cheshire Day Ranger, West Midlands Day Ranger and the Central Scotland Rover from Epsom and Euston in the past, so I'd guess that any station with a manned ticket office should be able to issue any of them except the ones that are only available on those silly scratch card type tickets.
