Queued for a platform at Norwich

I don't think I've ever done that before, I know it's a frequent occurrence at the bigger stations but never Norwich before!!!

Sorry I was on the incoming train stuck waiting by crown point for a platform to become free.

I remember a few years ago queuing for about 5 minutes to get into a platform at Liverpool Street and finding 2 empty platforms on either side of the platform we arrived in (the train departed almost as soon as it arrived, so it wasn’t an allocation problem). After some badgering, the company admitted that there was an inexperienced signalman on duty that morning.

An understanding of which train you were on, which platform you went in to, etc, would be helpful here.

Can happen if coming from the Yarmouth side. The track layout into platforms 4,5 and 6 isn’t particularly flexible so often you are simply waiting for a departure to clear, and with a 755 you stand a chance of being slightly early outside Norwich.

It was 17:50 from Liverpool street, so we went on platform 1, I'm really just remarking as it's such an unusual event at Norwich station, not unusual at other stations. Looking at rtt it just looks like there was a delay in the empty stock movement to crown point. When we got in every platform was occupied.

Happens a lot at Exeter St Davids. I went to see the last southbound XC HST. It was meant to be on P4 but due to intense flooding trains were delayed and about 3 iets were queuing in front of it.

Happens a lot with the Paignton - Exmouth branch waiting for P1 to be free or for trains from P3 or P4 to leave so P1 can be accessed.
