Are you glad you drive trains? Or do you wish yourself out of it?
Well we all have good and bad days in the job...... some days you may find part of a job is cancelled at the last minute and you get an early finish, other days you may find yourself sat in a loop somewhere while a dozen passenger trains pass you, with what you thought was an eight hour day turning into a twelve hour one.
For some, the most difficult part is the changing shift patterns, starting a week of nights is usually the hardest. I'm starting such a week tonight, I made a point of having a long, relaxing lie in today as I'll be booking on at 21.50 tonight for a London job, returning home at approx. 07.00 tomorrow (all being well of course), which is when I'll next see my bed. I'm booked to depart Croft Sidings at around 01.00 and probably won't touch my 60mph maximum until I reach Market Harborough.... with a fully loaded stone train, it's a mighty slog up the Midland to London.
