Bay Platform 1 at Bristol Temple Meads:

Platform 15 (line speed 15MPH) at Bristol Temple Meads (ignore the temporary stop block, this was only in place during some of the Bristol East project work):

Platforms 13 (which has stop blocks at the Western end and hence is not a through line) and Platform 15:

Maximum permitted line speed on any line at Bristol Temple Meads is 25MPH but trains on platform lines are further limited to a lower speed of 20MPH.

Not just a question of safety, getting people to start behind the yellow line gives just a little bit more hope that they might let the people get off the train first.....
