Question concerning Paddington Services

Does anyone know if there are still locomotive hauled services on the regular schedule operating into and out of Paddington?

I see only one sleeper (23:45 PZN) on the timetable and I assume that is loco hauled, but are there any commuter services remaining using MK II stock?

I commute into Paddington each day and while I am open to being corrected, I do not believe there are any other regularly scheduled loco-hauled services.

As far as I am aware there are no loco hauled commuter services from Paddington (unless you include the HST sets that operate on some of the more commuter orientated services) certainly nothing with Mk2s.

They used class 47s in privatisation but they these were then replaced by the class 180s.

Apart from the Night Riviera sleeper, no other services are loco hauled.

Except.....on 21st February 2010, Wrexham and Shropshire's services operated out of Paddington (due to engineering works at Marylebone).

Like any back bench MP, I have a sneaky follow-up question to test the experts:

Are there any parcel service, newsprint trains or race specials still using
locos at Paddington.

(forgive my inability to answer this question myself by simply visiting the station. I live a long, long way from Paddington).

Charter trains (including some for sports events including racing) do use Paddington (as with several of the London Terminals- certainly, Euston, Kings Cross, Liverpool Street and Victoria are used often for charters), and will be formed of coaches plus locomotives (top and tail, as there are no run around facilities), but there haven't been any newspaper trains in many, many years in the UK, whilst the limited mail services (carrying parcels as well as letters) do not use passenger stations at all, being entirely between dedicated terminals.

When there are races at Newbury theres is usually extra calls in HSTs at Newbury Racecourse and 1 or 2 additional HST service there.

Newspaper trains ended in 1988 I believe, and mail trains switched to the Willesden (Princess Royal) Mail Distribution Centre when it opened in the early 1990's.

The only loco's to be seen in Padidngton now are those on the sleeper, or occasional charter trains.

Last loco hauled I've seen was 67 + Mk II rake doing the Ryder cup specials (not top+tail in this case, guess it was into Paddington though).

Only things regularly into Paddington are 43s (natch) and 57s and 08s on the sleeper.
