Question about Strathclyde Tickets

A question for our Scottish brethern.
Me & PolarBear are travelling north of the Border to Glasgow and I need some advice on the best ticket to buy.
On the SPT website
http://www.spt.co.uk/travelcards/day-tickets/ it says you can buy a Roundabout ticket for £7.20 each

The Roundabout ticket gives one-day unlimited travel by ScotRail and Subway to over 110 stations within the Greater Glasgow area. Roundabout tickets are valid after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and Glasgow public holidays.
OR a Daytripper ticket for £22.00 (for 2 adults and upto 4 kids)
Price: £22.50 for two adults and up to four children (5-15 years inc.) or £12.70 for one adult and up to two children (5-15 years inc.)
The Daytripper ticket gives you unlimited* travel for one day by ScotRail, Subway, most buses**, and some ferries in the Strathclyde region. Tickets are valid after 9.00am on Monday to Friday and all day at the weekends and on Glasgow public holidays.

*Except on night service buses, tours, excursions or premium services including the First Glasgow 500 and the U1/U2 (UWS Link) services.

My question is : Can we buy the Daytripper for only two adults ??
(It does seem to better value as we can catch buses and ferries as well as trains.)

Yes. You don't need to have children to use a Daytripper ticket.

It's excellent value, and covers a much larger area than the roundabout. It's not valid with all bus companies though.

When you get to Glasgow Central, you can buy them from the Scotrail ticket windows. Don't go to the Virgin ticket office expecting to get one, as in my experience they have no idea what they are.

Sat Oct 19th is going to be our full day in Glasgow - can you recommend where to go with this ticket ?.
Is there a bus only ticket we can get if we want to go wandering on Fri afternoon/night ?

If you want scenery (and a single line token machine in the main station building not the signalbox, then Barrhill on the Stranraer route. ISTR doing that and Arrochar in a day, with a ferry across the Clyde (but does Gourock-Helensburgh run Saturdays?).

The Gourock - Kilcreggan ferry operates on Saturdays. Good idea - thanks.

Yes , McGills buses dont take the daytripper yet will take the zonecard which is really the season pass varient of it .

I feel the the daytripper is outdated , its not on ticket stock so can be a pain at the barriers at central . The roundabout is valid only on trains and subway , this could be the inner zone and buses allowed with it .

If the round trip via Wemyss Bay and Ardrossan includes using buses between Wemyss Bay and Largs, please be aware that many of the buses that serve this route are operated byMcGills. However, I seem to recall that Stagecoach have a half hourly 585 service which the Daytripper ticket may be valid on.

Remember trying to use the daytripper on the McGILLS ha , ive heard of some McGills drivers accepting them.
