When I visited the Scottish Railway Exhibition, I sat in the cab of a steam loco (I think it was 673 "Maude but I can't be sure), and am just wondering if when Mallard was at York, were you allowed to sit in her cab? If so, I'm kinda hoping the same would be for Shildon for any possible visit in the future.

They used to open it up for talks for an hour or so at certain times throughout the day, and also at 'Cab it' events. I'd reccomend the NRM's cab it events, I went to one and cabbed Mallard, the Bullet train, Lady Penelope, a 91 (can't remember which one) and had a drive of the 08 up the yard for £5. Last time I went to Shildon, they did something simialr with Green Arrow, so I cabbed that as well, but the explainer in there hadn't a clue about it.
