Question about LU

Having travelled on The Tube a few times I have often wondered are the different lines connected to each other at all e.g could a Northern Line Train connect onto an adjacent line?

There are a few that I can think of - mainly used by engineers trains, but occasional out of service workings of passenger stock heading to Acton Works.

At Finsbury Park there is a connection between the Victoria and Piccadilly lines. This cannot be used by the 2009 stock, as it is too wide for the Piccadilly.

At King's Cross St Pancras, there is a connection between the southbound Northern line and the Piccadilly line.

At Baker Street there are connections between the Jubilee and Bakerloo lines, a legacy of when the Stanmore branch was part of the Bakerloo.

Out of the tunnel, there is a reverse connection at West Ruislip depot between the Central and Metropolitan lines east of Ickenham station.

I think I'm right in saying that the only truly "isolated" line is the Waterloo and City. Everything else can, in some way, be accessed by the engineering trains from other lines. The Museum's 1938 stock has run on a lot of the network, and they took a 67 stock from Victoria line for a trip round various parts of the network shortly before withdrawl.

Yep the W and C is the only truly self contained line. There also used to be a connection from the District to the Central at Ealing Broadway but we took that out last year! There's Saint Marys curve near Whitechapel station now defunct but used to be the link between the District and the ELL!

A lot of connections are being removed, as James has mentioned the connection between the Central and District was removed at Ealing Broadway recently, along with a northbound connection between the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines at Finchley Road, (although they're still connected at Neasden with the depot anyway). As has also been mentioned the 09TS are now trapped on the Victoria line as they are too wide to fit on the Piccadilly line via the connection at Finsbury Park.
