Hi all,

Just a quick question about BVE4's excellent Voyager model.

Is it possible to change it, so it sounds like the engine has been Isolated? (i.e. It idles all the time, including when you apply the throttle)

I hope you understand my question, but please try to explain it to me (if possible) in a very simple way, as I don't have much experience of messing around with files on my PC.

Thanks

Just to see what it's like, for a change, as I know the engines are sometimes isolated/shut off all together, when there's something wrong with them.

I really like the sound of Voyager engines on full throttle though..

Back-up the sound files (for safe keeping)
And make a few copies of the idle sound,
and just re-name the copys as relevant to other sound files: rev and motor and power run etc. you should get the message.
and then it will just have idle sounds for each power notch.

I think this is what you meant.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I did what Jim told me to do at just before 8 this evening, gave it a quick go on BVE4, and it worked perfectly well.

I'm going to stick to the original version though, as I definately prefer to hear the nice engine noise.

No need to delete any files. Modify the sound.cfg by commenting out the motor sounds and ats sounds 13 and 14 (the revving up and down sounds). Actually, the result sounds a bit too quiet to me - I'm sure you'd hear the engines of the other carriages to some extent. That would need a new set of sound files though, I think.
