Hello,

I apologise if this is a stupid question, but I'm new to these things so be nice :D

Wanting to get some photos of an XC HST from a local bridge (has pretty good views), checking the diagrams I see that the Plymouth to Glasgow Central service leaving at 1224 on Tuesdays to Thursdays is indeed an HST. My question is, how likely is it to be an HST? Or will it end up being a double Voyager?

Again, I apologise beforehand for my ignorance.

Thanks

Almost guaranteed apart from when there is disruption

That particular diagram is the most reliable, being booked a HST Monday to Saturday (and possibly Sunday too, not sure)

I've never seen it voyagerised, and if it was it would probably be a single one ;)

Enjoy!

Yes. It is 1S51. Even when XC only operate 2 HST sets this is always a diagrammed HST. If the HST fails however it can be substituted for a 4 car Voyager. It doesn't happen very often. When it does it can be a case of send to Japan for some pushers!

Yes, the 1224 Plymouth to Glasgow is diagrammed for a HST Monday to Friday and can always be relied upon to be worked by a HST, the only exceptions being HST failure or engineering works/disruption.

Usually quite a busy train as well, especially on the middle section between Birmingham and York. I did see it worked by a 4 car Voyager one Saturday a few years ago when there was disruption and people were standing before it even left Plymouth!
