For 1 person it currently costs €44, and it was also €44 in 2016. However in August 2020 I paid €42 for this ticket. Can anyone confirm these numbers and why was there a short-lived dip?

Also surprising that the price hadn't gone up while most transport associations inflated their prices every year.

In the second half of 2020, the German government temporarily lowered the value-added tax from 19% to 17%, or from 7% to 5% (reduced rate) as part of a "post COVID" recovery if I remember correctly, and some businesses gave those savings through to the customer. I think it might have something to do with that
