Im a qualified train driver looking to move to Govia Thameslink Railway.

I've registered for job alerts on the GTR recruitment website but wondering if anyone on this forum has a contact number / email address for anyone in the GTR recruitment team?

Any help will be gratefully received!

What side? I doubt you'll get on TL anytime soon with all the trainees they are recruiting. Depots are all full, even over subscribed in some cases

Should you be pleased with Southeastern, they are recruiting qualified drivers at Victoria and Orpington.

Where are you thinking of coming to?. South coast? It's a big company and help can really only be given if you know where you want to be.

Thanks for getting back to me. Moving to Seaford/Newhaven area so would ideally like to join the Southern brand of GTR at their Brighton depot. I've heard that I have very little chance of getting a place at the Eastbourne depot. Three Bridges would be commutable. London depots would be too far to commute to.

Glover - i’m not 100% but i can’t see you getting in at Brighton anytime soon so your only depot on the GTR side is Three bridges. As you know there are a lot of depot changes going on throughout the network with Blackfriars closing and these drivers have to be placed elsewhere. So, that might mean they won’t be filling any southern depots anytime soon.

As i say i’m not clued up on depots south of the river but just using some common sense. Your best bet is just to check the careers website every other day and if you see anything act fast.

There are so many trainees in the system waiting for trainers i’d be surprised if they hire anytime soon.

Any displaced TL drivers from Blackfriars will only be going to TL depots not southern ones. I'd say on the southern side Brighton is your best bet actually but that's out of the coastal depots, generally it's harder to get in then the London depots.

Thanks for your frank response. My C.V. and personal statement are updated and ready to go. So you think I should try and target an opening at Three Bridges depot then. Would take any depot opening at the moment!

Do you know of any contact details/people in GTR recruitment that would be willing to hear from a qualified driver?

Thanks for getting back to me! Appreciate it. Do you know of any contacts/people from GTR recruitment that may be able to help me with moving TOC?

Unfortunately not, you'll have to apply for any vacancies on the website. In regards to three bridges I'm afraid on the TL side it's actually over established because of all the trainees. Tbh TL is not going to be an easy place for any driver to get into within the next 2 years.

Ahh I see. Thanks for the update. I'll keep plugging away and hope for a vacancy to arise. London depots seem to be a better option for speed of transferral. May have to change my plans!
