I have spoken to my DM about this and I can assure you that I am not making it up when I say that some tocs (including those I mentioned) like PQA over experienced drivers for the reasons I have stated. I'm not just saying this, it is the truth. And the scenario I talked about in my last post with the PQA beating over 20 experienced drivers many of those drivers were already at that depot but with another toc.

As I say, you may favour experience over PQA but not dry where does.

I wasn't saying that you were not being thruthful, things must be changing, I suppose a PQ driver is still not on the full money so this may be a reason? I think that is a fairer option going by the performance at interview vice experience however cost is also taken into account. I will agree to dissagree, PQ driver can be taken on but not by all companies

That Is what I am saying-companies vary greatly. As far as I'm aware PQA drivers earn as much as other qualified drivers-I seem to remember southern stepped up pay in stages when I was training there but I know that FCC don't have a seperate pay bracket for PQA.

All I am trying to say though is that not all companies will recruit in the way you are saying-I have no doubt many do think like you but as I say, not all.

There must be serious issues if someone is trying to leave their current job if only been doing it less than 2 years.

Any potential employer must view such a person as someone who cannot settle?

Being stuck on Manchester to Hadfields would definitely make me want to jump ship.

Not always, it all depends on what their reasons are. I know people who have left as they moved house to another area for family reasons making it a long commute, others who were stuck in relief links as the company took on too many drivers and they had no idea how long till they were in the link-means they can't plan their life as signing on/off times can be changed etc, not always just because a driver is bored and fancies a change.

If you have a genuine reason for leaving in under 2 years then it won't really count against you. If you tell the interviewer that you are bored of the work then they may take a different view!

I require some more help which im hoping you can help me with.

Im still 'awaiting shortlisting' for the vacancy of qualified driver at various locations according to my application submission history however more qualified driver jobs have come up for the depots that I am interested in (Bristol, Gloucester and Westbury).

My question is should I apply for these vacancies too seeing as I have heard nothing regarding my original application. I am desperate to move closer to home due to the ammount of travelling back and fore I am doing whilst trying to maintain a decent family life - but don't want too many applications to look bad on my record.

Help!!!

I left Connex SC (Southern) after 2 years because I married a Welsh girl and moved to Wales. The company I moved to was Wales and Borders at Crewe and when interviewed was asked on the reason for leaving Southern. I think if you have a valid reason either relocating or something similar I cannot see it being a hurdle to jump!

I think it may be worthwhile emailing or calling their HR department and ask them if you are still in for a shout with your original application.
