Hi Guys..

Was just wondering if anyone knew any info about the supposed qualified driver jobs coming up at NXEC??

I've heard that they're connected to the Dec 2010 timetable change, but nobody seems to have any further info..

Can anyone help??

Cheers

Was just curious owing to my having submitted a CV to NXEC..I put donny down as my first choice but also Leeds as well...

Don't suppose you would have a rough idea of when these people are expected to be recruited do you?

Should imagine they'd have to be moving soon, what with recruitment processes, notice, traction and routes etc...

FN - According to NXEC's HR department the posts are "internal staff development" opportunities only, external candidates will only be looked at in the absence of sufficient internal applications.

I imagine it will be soon.I heard from an NXEC driver manager some months ago about these,so it will be a matter of weeks I would assume if it's to do with the Dec 2010 timetable,so traction and route learning can be completed.

Presumably that means conductors and/or depot drivers getting first dibs. That's fair enough I guess, but it doesn't exactly fit the bill of being a recruitment drive for qualified drivers.

You may know something I don't OL, but I don't recall it being stated anywhere that it was intended to be a recruitment drive for qualified drivers, but perhaps you saw some additional info.

I have no insider info on this at all. However, all mention of it on this forum so far has been in relation to "qualified drivers", as does the title of this very thread. I'd just assumed that the information posted first was correct. But if you're saying that this is incorrect then it would appear that it is yourself that has the insider info.

In either case, if NXEC will be recruiting trainee drivers from within their own ranks in time for the December 2010 timetable then they need to get a move on if all these new folk are going to be in post with all traction and routes signed by then.

Ahhhh, good point OL, had forgotten to check the thread title!

The recruitment, and who decides what in relation to it, slightly confuses me as NX will no longer be pulling the strings by the time the recruitment process even begins. East Coast may have an altogether different recruitment strategy/policy when they take control of the reigns.

In regard to being ready for the December 2010 timetable, looking at BOSCH's posts in a chronological order he seemed to progress from his Conductor role to going 'solo' at the front end in just a few months, so 13 months seems more than enough.

I was posting in response to the information displayed on the NXEC website under the careers section that says that qualified drivers may register their future interest for vacancies by submitting a CV..I spoke to a member of staff in the recruiting department who said that, although he was not certain of a timetable for recruiting any qualified drivers that the company may need, they will at some point be recruiting from the CVs that qualified drivers have submitted..

As for taking these people on, they would have to allow for interviews etc, followed by contractual notice (usually 12 weeks or so) followed by medical, company induction, traction training (Class 43, Class 91 and Class 67, from what I'm told. Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Then routes...if they do recruit from inside the driving grade, they really will have to move quite soon methinks....

For the record, I think its absolutely fair enough that internal candidates get the first crack at the jobs...I just hope I'm considered for any vacancies that are left!!!

Cheers Y'all..

Then he must have missed route learning completely...impossible in just a few months
