Qualified Driver assessments

I have searched high and low today for some information on qualified train driver assessments and what they entail.

Can anyone shed some light please?

The only company I know of who insist on assessments for qualified drivers is trans Pennine. And they make you re-sit all the psychometrics for some very strange reason. Most other companies are just an interview, what assessments exactly do you mean?

In that case it's the same as the trainee tests as far as I know, a mate transferred to that company last year and said it was the same as the original psychometric assessments.

I have absolutely no idea why they insist on it, seems a waste if time and money and it's a grey area what happens if you fail ... do you have to give up your current job ?! No other toc makes you re - sit them, not even the 'premium' employers like east coast and virgin.

I thought it was just scaat test and two communication tests

Yeah seems weird of them to do that. I personally have passed the tests twice (once for London underground and again for southern) and can't see what they would benefit from this

Ftpe say that they do this, so that they get the a better applicant

Fair enough-I stand corrected. I know tpe are desirable to work for within the driving grade for various reasons so I suppose if they have that many applicants they can be as picky as they want.
