Quad tracking on Leeds-Micklefield line?

Micklefield certainly has P&R potential, although it's not the easiest to reach by road from the A1 if coming from the north.
The area here could be perfect for a multi-storey.

Or one by the Eastbound platform, just off the old A1.
However, from the N Thorpe Park would be much easier to build if slightly less environmentally friendly.

East Garforth is too well used to be closed.

If an improved Garforth station had decent access from the houses at East Garforth, I don't think those users would be massively inconvenienced with a walk of a few hundred yards. Particularly if the alternative was a reduction to hourly service in order to fit more expresses in.

Cottingley is doomed due to White Rose opening, just a few years after having hundreds of houses built right next door. Cottingley may not have the usage that East Garforth does, but usage is suppressed by only having one train per hour calling. The walk from East Garforth to Garforth is comparable to the walk from Cottingley to White Rose. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, and East Garforth might have to be one of the eggs.

How many trains need to use the east approach from Leeds at the moment?
Unless we are pushing 18 to twenty wouldn't improved signalling between Leeds and Neville Hill be preferable to lots more track given the built up nature of the route.

Indeed I'd think you'd spend your money untangling the approach from the west, so that you can operate the main trainshed to eliminate all crossing moves in the east approach.
