Hi everyone,

I’m off to Qatar in November and will spend plenty of time using the local transport.

Does anyone know how many trams and metro etc there are? What their numbering is? How many depots are there?

I’ve done a bit of Google research but the articles are inconsistent.

Many thanks

Not been there yet (well, years ago only in the airport for change planes) but also planning for early 2023 and was just spending some time to find out.
Best site-not for this but all such systems: urbanrail.net
Tram is only recently opened and divided in 2 separate non-connected systems-both still under further construction and connecting to metro, so I assume there are also 2 separate depots. THere are very low standard fares (2 rial =about 50 cts/45p) and also day or 24-hr tickets, but all must be loaded on a chipcard, payable too. The buses seem to be separate from this.
AND there is a short circular with a special (hydrogen?) non-wired in what is supposed to be the ´centre´ of the main town Doha with just 2 or 3 cars.
BTW/hint: Brits may (or perhaps may not) be delighted to learn there are now also Premier Hotels-2 in fact and these are among the lowest priced in the touristy sector. But all bets/info is off if it is this football madness.
Read the chapter on Qtr in an old LP-Guidebook (on all Gulf states) from pre 2000 and the changes are immense. At that time you needed to be invited by a local or expensive prebooked hotel to be able to enter.
Oh yes-I also just read that to enter it one has to show a negative Covid-test, but I am not sure if this also applies if you are fully injected (2+booster). Qtr airways still has ´mandatory´ mask wearing in its planes.

Thanks for all of that.

I am there for the first two weeks of the football.

Was aware of the negative Covid-test requirement.

The Urbanrail website is usually a good source:

Brill, thank you.

Still quite light on detail, there’s really very little around.
