The 2023 season of the Douro Historic Train will only begin on July 8, one month later than usual.
The departure from Régua has been postponed due to the month-long strike by ticket inspectors.
To compensate, CP - Comboios de Portugal plans to offer an extended service for 2023, operating the Historic Train during select business days, in addition to Saturdays and Sundays.

CP states that there has been no delay in the schedule and that the start date of the 2023 season was established considering "operational factors".
The partial strike by CP ticket inspectors, taking place from June 5 to July 5, has resulted in the suspension of a significant number of interregional trains between Porto and Pocinho.

Good news - I still have to tick off this railway and would love to ride this.

Indeed, thank you for sharing.

When does the running season end please?

I’d also like to do this sooner rather than later

Thanks for this. I had been a bit ignorant to this running so will now add it to my bucket list!

If anyone has not done this line, it's an absolute must.

Not just for the historic train, but the line itself is a real treat and the regular train is well worth doing too! (English Electric traction, traditional comfy coaches and opening windows)

Since the old "CP train refurbishments" thread is closed to new posts, I'll leave the news here as it has to do with this particular train.

The "Historic Trains & Coaches" workshop in Contumil is working on an old coach used as a tourism office in Entroncamento.
Once recovered into running condition, it'll become the 6th coach in the Douro Historical Train, adding some extra seats to the service.
