Psychometric Testing for prospective trainee drivers

Hello there,

I'm trying to understand more about the trainee driver psychometric testing.

What trainee driver psychometric tests are usually done? Computer or paper? Any experiences you'd like to share?

I've seen testing products on the market, claiming to help with practice tests. Have any of you tried any of these out? What were your impressions?

I tried one product, but it was full of errors. I am also a bit hesitant now, as I hear that most of the tests are not mac compatible.

The whole point of the tests is to find those with the natural abilities (or non technical skills in buzz speak) to get through the learning and be able to do the job, if you have to practice and practice just to get through the tests then you will struggle through the training and could be a liability when out driving.

The reason the tests were recently changed is because people were practicing for ages just to get through he tests and then either failing the training or effing up as soon as they got their key.

If you have what it takes then you will be able to pass without practicing with anything more than the TOC sends you!

I think the materials sent out by the TOC is the best to prepare you for what you do on the day.

You can buy all types of software but it is overpriced, full of errors and not likely to help you on the day.

The Group Bourdon free download is very helpful for the concentration test.

Do not waste money and do read these forums is probably my best advice.

Ah, so the TOCs explain the tests beforehand... That's helpful.

Yeah, I got free use of some online tests...gave them a go, did really well. Even though I have never seen a psychometric test in my life, I know that the standard of grammar and addition I was seeing, was really bad.
