Psychometric Test Practice

Hello all.

I recently applied for a Trainee Driver role with TransPennine Express. I got as far as one of the psychometric tests but ended up running out of time, failing the test and my application being dismissed.

I'm aware that you only get two attempts at the psychometrics and if you fail both times, then you can never apply for a Train Driver role ever again.

Are there any resources online that I could use to practice so that if I get a second attempt I've got a better chance of passing?

I believe you get three chances now, depending on when you sat the first test. What test did you fail? I believe there are resources online, practice material you can download but it’s pretty expensive, I also believe there is a group bourdon practice file available on this forum somewhere.

You do get three chances now - you'll have to wait 12 months before you can reapply to do the tests again, though. As above, which test did you fail, and what tests do you have to do for TPE?

Which did you fail? The recent error checking test?

Regarding the below stages of the Trainee Train Driver role with Transpenine. If you’re just talking about Stage 1 regarding the online assessments, this does not count towards your ‘three attempts’.

Your attempts will only apply to stages 2 & 3. This is Psychometric testing which needs to be passed at an enhanced level nationally.
