Psychometric assessments during lockdown?

Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks for all your help!

I found out on Friday that I have been successful at interview for a trainee driver role with Northern ()

I suspect I already know the answer to this...but, does anyone know if there are any psychometric assessments taking place, or have they all been stopped until after lockdown?

I have naturally assumed it would all be put on hold, but the people that did the interview weren’t sure, and thought they might be able to go ahead (with a covid test sent out prior and obviously strict distancing).

I’ll be ramping up my practicing anyway - but having it next week or not until December are two very different prospects!

Hi, may I ask when you applied and are you external? And which station did you apply for?

Assessments at some TOCs and OPC are continuing through lockdown from what I’ve seen and based on personal experience. Can’t say if that’s across the board though. Good luck.

External - I applied in September this time. Previously applied last year (can’t remember when, October maybe), had an interview January but then failed psychometrics the first time. Edited to add: applied to be based at Leeds

Thanks for replying. Apparently they are recruiting now for roles starting early next year, so I am sure they will be keen to keep things moving if at all possible.

Thanks for replying. Yeah I applied in September also but still showing as Application under consideration for me. That’s the bit I don’t understand? Unless they are just going through it in stages?

Some centres our open including our own. Each centre is ultimately responsible as to whether they undertake testing or not at this moment in time.

All centres are however operating with restricted numbers so testing may take longer than usual.

Don’t worry about getting tests date imminently you will be given a minimum of 7 days notice for a test by all centres.

Hi there & congrats on getting through both the sift and the DMI. I am at this stage too, also for Northern (I am a guard for Northern). I received an invitation to attend psychometric tests in Doncaster on Nov 11th but unfortunately this has now been postponed whilst nationwide lockdown in place. I have been asked to watch for further updates in due course. I am hoping I will be able to sit them in Dec. Let's see.....

Hi, did you also apply in September? I’ve seen a couple who have had interviews etc do you think it’s worth me ringing the HR team?

I applied in April. Deathly silence until Oct. I'd sit tight. To be honest I'd kinda given up hope then out of the blue I was invited to the Drivers Manager Interview with 7 days notice. I researched and prepped about 10 questions. My interview was online video call due to Covid and I joined the call with 2 Driver Team Managers. It was formal, and I was suited & booted but thanks to my fairly exhaustive prep I was able to tackle each Q quite well. No "trick" questions & whilst it was not a great experience I had clearly done enough & the next day I received an email to say I had progressed & was to await a psychometrics date. I got a date but sadly now need to wait for another date for the psychometric assessments. I have the prep material & continue to practice in readiness for a new date.
