hello! similar issue to ones on here already re failing to present railcard. back in April, I was asked by ticket inspector to present my railcard travelling down to exeter from London. My railcard glitched, and for some reason (unknown to me at the time) it displayed the railcard on the app with no photograph but had the railcard number and my name displayed. the guy said he cannot accept, so charged me. I showed him my railcard receipt to prove purchase and validity, but he still charged me. he said I will be fine as long as I respond to the letter that he told me would arrive in a few weeks/months, which will ask to present proof at a later date.

now it's august, and today I received a courts summons. I never received a letter asking for further evidence. any advice? I've sent them an email explaining what's happened, but my court date is already booked in for a couple weeks time...so I'm getting slightly anxious they won't accept my late evidence (even though I was still waiting for that first letter).

just wondering whether they're likely to accept my evidence still.

What you want to do is contact GWR immediately at GWRProsecutions@gwr.com (email from their prosecution policy)

And tell them you didn't recieve previous correspondance, that you are asking them to settle the matter out of court (in your case, your case is likely to be closed due to the Railcard policy of allowing one incident) while joining all the evidence you have (please post what you are going to write for members to proofread)

Welcome to the forum!

GWR are one of the more pragmatic train companies to deal with. I agree with contacting their prosecutions office explaining what has happened. You must do this tomorrow, if you haven't already done it.

Feel free to pop a draft of your email into this thread and forum members will proof read it for you.

They can drop the case as late as the day of the hearing.

It seems they don't have any good reason not to drop it when you send the details and explanation.

Don't ask them to settle the matter out of court if, as it appears, you've done nothing wrong!

Do post on here what you intend to write.
