So, please, don't ever think that you would get lucky and not be caught again. Chances are that you will, and there is only so much people can help you before you need to take responsibility for your own actions. Do it enough times and no amount of apology and grovelling would be able to help you.

Then I am truly speechless.

Walk.

I agree 100% with what bb21 has said. This is a fine example of how PF's as a deterrent are no good at all.

One mile, that's about a 20 minute walk, I do a lot more than that most days and I'm in my sixties.

I do that in both directions most days, sometimes twice. It's just over a mile to my aged relative's house, where I'm on caring duties.

You believe the fare is £2.10, have you ever bought a ticket?

It doesn't sound like it. I mean, why bother at all when there are no barriers and you think you can get away with it and just apologise afterwards if you do get stopped?

thanks for all your replies.

i 100% agree it is my fault. and i wont be crying etc if i am taken to court. honestly, when the got stopped by the TI, i knew straight away I was going to be prosecuted. However, why not send a letter and you never know..

Maybe you should be crying if you end up in court on a RORA charge. If it really doesn't bother you then that's another sign that the system for dealing with persistent fare evasion doesn't work.

I thought that for working in the NHS, there is no such thing as a spent conviction...

I believe you are right.

Depends what you do. For a porter or cleaner it's spent, or other behind the scenes job. For actual medical work, that's another matter

Almost all NHS DBS checks are enhanced to the best of my knowledge as there is a possibility of encountering patients in any role which is based in a hospital, health centre and so on.

why would i be crying if it was undet RoRA. it will be spent within a year. plus ots a minor offence, NHS wont even care as long as i declare it. plus im going abroad to study then come back to uk for work. by that time, 8years from now, i highly doubt it would make any difference.

That's not entirely true. While a spent conviction in itself isn't allowed to be used as the sole discriminating factor between candidates for a job for most positions, it can be taken into consideration alongside other factors.
plus im going abroad to study then come back to uk for work.
I hope that isn't in the USA (or certain other countries) as a conviction for a crime of dishonesty can be a reason to be denied a long-stay visa.
by that time, 8years from now, i highly doubt it would make any difference.
Assuming that you kept an entirely clean nose for the eight years, I would agree. However, seeing as you can't even avoid fare dodging for six months I have some doubts...

Proof if it was ever needed then, that even after the third time you don't care a jot and haven't learned a thing.

Hopefully they make an example of you.

I don't think we're getting the full story here - Back when the OP was stopped in February:

i pay every single day. but that time i wouldnt have, because i had forgotten my oyster at home

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=2088844#post2088844

I'm guessing that we can now conclude that the above was a complete lie?

I do however wonder whether certain people are beyond help ie. they will never change their ways. Which makes najaB's post more pertinent.

This whole thread, when taken in conjunction with the OP's previous thread, should be made a stickie, and referred to every time the usual suspects post about how dreadful it is that the Railway can have powers to prosecute people, it should be treated as an honest mistake, yada yada yada...

From the OP's point of view, I'd reckon this is heading to court as a RORA case, being caught in quick succession and having an outstanding PF sounds like it might be targeted at a known evader...

Nice attitude!! That will take you far......................NOT!

I suggest that even a RoRA prosecution might cause you problems being a student abroad.

And I am so glad you think that what is basically a fraud offence is minor. At 19 it looks like you need to take some serious responsibility for your behaviour.

Good luck with that attitude. You're gonna need it.

Just proves everything I said.

This is a place to help people understand why they did wrong and help them get another chance without ending up inadvertently with a worse consequence than they otherwise would. This is not a place to get you off your rightful punishments, especially when you are a repeat offender and refuse to even acknowdge the severity of your actions.

Once you understand that you need to take full responsibility for your actions, and that fare evasion is not a "minor" offence (partly because everyone else will have to pay more through their fares), you can let me know and this thread will continue. Until then there is no point.
