There are proposals doing the rounds for re-opening the Swansea and District to passenger traffic and Grand Union potentially also running services to Llanelli.

Just wondering - If the line was re-opened and parkway stations were opened, would there actually be more passengers using this line, rather than the existing services to Swansea, particularly Swansea - Cardiff commuters?

And should Carmarthen be a redeveloped terminus?

Certainly I think a regular service along the Swansea district line would build up a good amount of trade from those in the swansea valley and motorists using the M4.

One issue has always been patching trains between bridgend and Cardiff especially when the Marsteg service goes half hourly. Ideally if the line to swansea is eventually electrified then emus could be parked better between freight and fast services.

Ideally off peak you would see 3tph between swansea and Cardiff including a hourly swanline service and 2tph Maesteg -Cardiff. So in theory I think a hourly service to Cardiff along the district line is possible possibly with a hourly shuttle service between Llanelli and Port Talbot parkway to connect with other services
