Evening, I am interested in the possibility of identifying the consist of the trains that the proposed Nightstar would have passed on it's cars for travel on into Europe? I have a complete list of the locomotives that were decided on through testing for traction and for the very over specified ETS demands of the Nightstar train. I am posting below the diagrams and the locomotives of the various rail systems of the proposed international sleeper train. Can anyone with some degree of accuracy possibily provide information on which trains in Europe these odd formations where to work with the British Nightstar cars in tow?

I am interested in modeling the Nightstar and decided while I can order any of the locomotives in model form, it would do no good unless I knew which native trains of the countries involved the ENS (European Night Services) Would have been attached to. Thus I can then order enough cars of the various rail companies to simulate a realistic consist.

Some of the consist are unique. Specifically the use of a DB 103 electric and DR 232 diesel locomotive in Germany.

I think there might have been plans for conversion of a British sleeper car or locomotive for use on the Belgium rail system do to the same high power demands? The list below shows that a NS class 1800 electric was to be the traction power for this portion of the train.

Some sources suggest do to third rail short comings a Class 73/1 would have become a genny car for use on the BR Southern region where a Nightstar test train blew up the substation system as I understand it? This I have no details on but remember reading along time ago on the web.

In 1989 the Class 73 had many more in the fleet than today so a unit conversion may have or may not have been planned? No one has ever come forth who worked on this project and gave a clear definitive answer on some of these speculations so they stay just speculations.

The non electric routes in the UK would have had the Class 37/6 + Genny Car + Class 37/6 locomotive combo which I find quiet interesting in it's self.

Here is the diagrams proposed in 1989 and the locomotive list of the various rail systems that were tested with a short consist of the Nightstar cars.

20.00 to Turin (arr 07.30) and Milan (arr 09.00)

Not really, the quickest trains take 6hrs from Paris to Munich by train.

Yes, but night trains don't travel as fast as TGVs and it was supposed to be routed via Cologne, not Paris. Plus the current CNL service from Paris to Munich takes over 12 hours
