Back in the mid 80's there was a plan for a new 'halt' at Marazion, which came to nothing and a few years later one for Carn Brea Parkway, and the possible closure of Redruth and Camborne station as a result! Sense prevailed accordingly...

One often suggest here is Millhouses/Heeley on the line south of Sheffield Midland. There's a big Tesco on one side of the tracks and a big Sainsburys on the other side (at one point), so it could be a busy station.

However, my reservation with such plans is that they often end up delaying fast services by having "stoppers" holding up the "main line".

I'm pretty sure there is space not just for platforms etc. but for fast/slow lines so they could just put the fast lines through the middle with the slow on the platforms

Worcester has three proposed stations:
  • Worcester Parkway - this is to be built at the intersection between the XC and Cotswold line. It would give Worcestershire new services that have previously been denied as it takes longer for XC trains to go via Worcester; it will provide an important local and regional interchange for commuters. Worcestershire county council are trying to get funding for this station - but there are concerns that XC will still refuse to stop even here
  • Fernhill Heath (Worcester north) - this is another 'Parkway' proposal. It is basically a relocation of the closed station here (closed in 1960s) to a few hundred yards away. It will likely be served by Snow Hill trains but only a few New St trains due to it's location and size
  • Henwick - another proposal to reopen the station at Henwick. This would provide the west of Worcester with a direct link to the rail network as all Worcester stations are currently on the east side of the river

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
It must sound like a huge conurbation to those who've never been there! Use "New Mills Central" for the bustling city centre, "New Mills Newtown" for the furthest reaches of the sprawling modern suburbs... they'd really have to give the new station a similarly illusive name. How about "New Mills International (...for trains to Manchester Airport!)"

They could "hide" the name of New Mills, to save confusion. Perhaps the best known part of New Mills could be the name of the new station....Swizzles Matlow:D

It has something of the "High Peak" about the name.

There's been talk of a new Station on the Merseyrail network between Meols & Moreton at Millhouse Lane for at least 20 years, but has never got further than that due to lack of funding or will to build it, shame as well as that's a big area with the nearest station Moreton a 20-30 min walk.

I note that Low Moor is shown as one of the stations on this link.

Are there not definate moves to actually reopen this station now?

Some moves are being attempted but it's stalling as result of the spending cuts. It sits around the same likelihood as Apperley Bridge

Very good! It doesn't include Winchburgh on the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High route, which is identified as a growth area for housing developments; West Lothian Council has a commitment to a railway station there as part of any development deal.

I have a rule and that is some form of news article. If you can find one, I am more than happy to add to the map

Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge are two proposed between Leeds and Shipley (if not already mentioned.) Whilst I currently have no problems with them, I will if Skipton services stop there and increase journey times, especially on my xx18 SKI-LDS, which, in at xx59, gives perfect connections for TPE Scarborough and Liverpool, XC North and South, EC London and NR Knottingley...

Mini rant over...
Bradford to Leeds services will stop with other services stopping there rarely if at all.

Any.

I can remember proposals for a Blackburn East station at Daisyfield Junction way, way back, as well as Wixams, just south of Bedford on the MML, and Inverness Airport on the Inverness-Aberdeen line.

How will Wixams effect plans for a station at Amptill?
