Anyone here watch professional wrestling?

I used to be a big WWE fan back in the day and have recently been watching some of it again. Not taken much interest in the newbies but sticking more to what I know, like Undertaker, HBK etc., including their awesome match at 'Mania 26.

Also thought about checking out TNA. Heard mixed things about it but from things I've seen on YouTube, it looks like something I could enjoy. The character "Suicide" looks pretty exciting so I might end up checking it out.

Love the TNA product, loved the ECW product, liked the wCw and am going off the WWE product because WWE is just stupid at the moment.

If you want a good professional wrestling product, go to see Ring Of Honour or even SHIMMER and see some quality wrestling action

I'm going to avoid a Benoit argument here and instead focus on your ROH comment. I've not heard much about it (not even a TV show). In fact, the biggest names I've heard in it to me are Hass and Benjamin.

I remember watching WWF with some amusement many years ago as it was obviously done to a script and the commentators regarded themselves as celebrities.

The following wrestlers spring to mind:-

The Rock
Triple-H
Steve Austin

Wrestling used to be on ITV on Saturday afternoons, even longer than this and again, it was all good fun, even obviously "fixed".

Wrestlers from that period that I remember:-

Fit Finlay (and Princess Pauline)

That's enough reminiscing ....I have just realised that I have got up an hour earlier than normal and the "dawn chorus" are all in full song.

TNA is actually offering decent wrestling except for the stupid storylines that they seem to come out with, I don't want to see Matt Hardy or Hogan etc...pushed ahead of home grown talent such as Beer Money, Motor City Machine Guns who could thrash what WWE presents as Tag Teams any day of the week.

I like seeing RVD, Mr Anderson, Kurt Angle, Tara, Mickie James as they can wrestle decent and enjoyable matches.

I used to watch WWF quite a lot and still remember Sable and that Bikini!

Sadly though the WWE is so watered down, it might as well have puppets and be a show for under 5s.

I do like Shimmer, tough and beautiful women wrestling - magic.....

See opening post - I don't know these new guys and am only thinking about TNA.

I have watched some TNA Knockout's matches and have been very impressed by them. TNA seem to be hiring women for their wrestling abilities unlike WWE who hire them for their looks.

1970's ? World of Sport Sir? Giant Haystacks? Big Daddy??? 'Easy...easy...you shuddap!' That was entertainment, but all that American 'Tripe'?? Dunno if it's just me, but it's crap...

Utter bollards, played out by a bunch of actors! I can't think of anything more pointless, except for tiddlywinks. How anyone can watch that tripe is beyond me.......

Yes it is a load of actors throwing each other about but if you understand that it can still make for a good night out, well it was in the late 50's/early 60's at Watford town hall.
