has anyone had a problem where a parking ticket bought to cover several days at a station expires at 3am on the last day — I believe this has been much complained-about!

Can't say I've heard that one before...It's more usual for them to expire at 2359, though 0300 the following day in line with the "railway day" finishing at 0230 is a possibility.

Although the "railway day" finishes at 0429 now.

What would happen if a late running train caused you to get a parking charge notice (or whatever they're called) in the station car park.]

Would the late arrival of the train be sufficient to appeal the notice?

3 am on the last day is odd. Sure that's not 3pm or 3 am on day after as per above posts?

Legally speaking, probably not, but one would hope common sense would be applied and/or that the parking attendants would be asleep at 0300.
