Problems whilst Photting buses?

Cause I wanted to prove I am harmless. What is his issue? i'm doing nothing wrong in the first instance. his image hasn't appeared or been plastered EVERYWHERE on the internet, so I can't see it being a problem.

Not everyone likes to have their photo taken, particularly when they're at work.

Surely you can see that if someone isn't happy about it, the best solution is to leave it at that?
Taking more photos because you think it's "funny" will only inflame the situation and smacks of being deliberately provocative.

In all honesty, I'm not best pleased about the photo with me in it on Wikipedia, but I'm not bothered enough to actually do anything about it.

Was he the one who deliberately kept on photographing a bus (with driver) when it became very clear in the initial instance that it made the driver uncomfortable? I'm not interested at all in buses, but surely even if it is a bus on a rare route or whatever, one photo will suffice? If the driver hadn't reacted would you have stayed around and kept on photographing or would you have left it at that?

I'd say both parties were in the wrong here - the driver shouldn't have such a problem with his photo being taken - and MCW shouldn't have overreacted (as you say, peoples tempers often get the better of them), so that should be that, no need for a pointless circular argument..

would have taken a few more, I normally take 2 or 3 shots of each bus then pick the one I like best.

90019 is the person who called me an arse and caused an argument for no particular reason. that's why I'm annoyed. he had no need to word it like he did or put it over in the way he did. as you can see another member has responded and put it in a very nice way and I responded positively to that.

as much as I am annoyed with 90019 i'm annoyed with myself cause it is half stupid i did it upon reflection but still, I don't take to being called names and having negative stuff thrown at me on a public forum. you don't do it.

I'm happy for this rubbish to be dropped if everyone else is. cause I'm sick to death of replying to this junk.

In an effort to bring this thread back on track, I've never had any problems as such, although I know who not to try it around in Bath. I have had a couple of funny reactions, such as one who pulled a face of "Oh no! I'm being photographed!" when I photted his vehicle with his permission, and also one who laughed when she got caught out and had a joke with me about it the next time I saw her.

Apparently Bath have a policy whereby if you know there are cameras around you just let them get on with it - but if you have an unusual vehicle on the route you are driving you should try to change the blind before it's too late!

Generally, I don't tend to pay spotters that much attention (if I've even noticed them ). I'll wave at those I know, but that tends to be about it.

A different route I suppose, but there's a rather substantial problem with that tactic - people thinking their bus has arrived when actually it's just a driver trying to evade a photter! Imagine the tabloid responses to such a story...

Arriva Midlanda had the sense to put the control panel for the Digital dsplays on the cab Ceiling or thereabouts, thus making the driver have to stand up to operate it....

you would have thought they would have the sense to install them a little lower for easier access :roll:

Possibly the reason is to discourage pressing buttons while driving.

Besides, blinds should (as per Traffic Commissioner) stay as they are until the bus has arrived at its final set down point, then be changed (I personally don't agree with this, but this is what VOSA want).

Incidentally, there were 4 professional-looking photographers in Stockport bus station this morning, who on seeing my bus (ex-London PVL275) all took photos in complete synchronisation - it was like the paparazzi . Hope one of them puts the photos on flickr; I'd like to see myself in them!

Hmmm. There is one operator in the Bath / Wells area (well, Paulton to be axact) who have some vehicles I have seen with funny destinations in the past. The funny ones have usually been on the Optare Solos in the operator's fleet. Among the ones I have seen are:

- "Arriva in Bath" (complete with Arriva logo)
- "When I grow up I want to be a Spectra"
- "Millitant pensioners on board. Sorry - no room for paying passengers"
- "Sod it - I've had enough!" -

and a revolving one which ran: "Please do not sell the driver any more vintage bus timetables" which then changed to "He already has a house full of them and if he buys any more Ann will kill him."

A pity more operators won't show a bit of humour sometimes.
